[chirp_users] Baofeng UV-82HP Previous solution (from frequency to channel mode switching) does not work
I tried the steps in the previously closed solution of downloading the file and using the Settings tab, then change the setting for VFO. However, I don't have anything under the "settings" tab. I do find VFOA and VFOB under the "browse"r tab on the left, which is under the blank "Settings" tab, but I don't have any info on what to put in Hex, Dec, Bin cells or which ones to use or not use. Any assistance would be appreciated

Kevin,
There is a setting the the radio that is out-of-range which is confusing CHIRP and causing the settings tabs to not appear. The issue recently is that the TXP setting in one or both VFO is out-of-range. If this is the case for you, a quick and dirty fix is to switch the radio to VFO mode and temporarily set menu 2 (TXP) to MID in both VFOs. Then download from your radio to see if the "Settings" tab appears. If not, you can email your CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) file to me and I can correct the invalid setting(s) and return the "repaired" image to you.

Thank you, Jim,
I got lucky by putting "1" in every cell and that allowed it to change from channel mode to frequency mode.
I'm having issues though trying to load all of my frequencies into the csv file. I followed the instructions to the letter but perhaps I'm putting in invalid data in the file? I only have the freqs and no other data as far as tone and dtcs codes and whatnot. and chirp says it can't find any frequencies and doesn't open the csv file. Is there something else I should be doing?

I don't understand why you needed to do this. Switching between VFO mode and MR mode is accomplished by powering off the radio then pressing and holding the [MENU] button while powering the radio back on -and- continue holding the [MENU] button until the radio fully boots. If you let off too soon, the switch between modes will not occur. If you have "VOICE" enabled, once you hear the "frequency mode" or "channel mode" voice prompt, you can let go.

You cannot just create a random CSV file and load it into CHIRP. It must be in the proper format so CHIRP can understand what is being read in. Program one or more channels using the "spreadsheet style memory editor". If you wish you can import them from any of the "stock config" files, one or more of the "data sources" and/or the a test "image" file from the CHIRP repository. Once you have a few channels, then export them to a CSV file. Use this CSV file as a template for how the channels that you add should look like.

That function was turned off. It didn't work. So I was trying to get it to work. Now it works. Although I'm now having issues trying to upload all my frequencies

Ahhh... yes. VFO/MR switching is disabled from the factory. A side effect of the firmware being cloned from the UV-82C which requires preventing access to the VFO for FCC Part 90 compliance.
You aren't trying to upload a CSV file directly into the UV-82HP, are you? You cannot directly upload a CSV file to any radio that is programmed by CHIRP using "clone mode". You must download from the radio, import the channels from the CSV file (or load the CSV file into a separate tab so you can copy-and-paste them into the tab from your radio) and then upload the tab from your radio back into your radio.

thank you!
