I am a newbie programming a UV-5r2+ using CHIRP. Could you help me with how to fill in the fields in CHIRP? I am going on a week long backcountry ski trip in British Columbia. The operation area radio frequency given to me is attached below. How do fill in the fields correctly listed in the screen shot of CHIRP below? Or do I not have enough information? I can’t figure out how to get the RX 170.100 and TX 169.110 on the same memory channel. Then I am not sure if I am entering the tone correctly? Thank you!

I believe this is what you want - but I'd love to have someone confirm:
The CSV is attached (so, you might already know this, but you'll want to download the stock config from your radio, then paste the two rows from this CSV into the config, then re-upload it to your radio).
You can put whatever you want in the Name column.
You'll see what I did, but you needed to set an offset (-0.990 in this case) to step down your TX frequency. Then it looks like they want a Tone on your RX. And finally your mode would be NFM for narrow band.
You can program this all on the radio without chirp and doing it for just one channel wouldn't be that time consuming. So, as a backup plan I would print off some good instructions for programming by hand (check out Miklor's site) and practice doing it by hand so you're ready to do that in case something was programmed wrong.
If you know others going on the trip, you could ask them to share their CSV file with you.
Good luck! -Tycen

In Canada that frequency is listed as Mobile service,
https://sms-sgs.ic.gc.ca/frequencySearch/searchByGeographicArea?execution=e1...
but it still requires a licence and the equipment to be type-approved. If it is FCC type approved it is most likely IC type approved since labs are usually accredited for both. Does anybody know?
Industry Canada are pretty tough out in BC and have levied fines and confiscation in the past for violations. I wish we had those guys here in the East where people can get away with anything. We had some commercial users on the input of our ham repeater and the local Spectrum Management Officer just told us to put PL on our repeater!

None of that applies because the OP said it was for Canada.

Technically the offset is -.990
There 2 ways to do that on my radio.
When programming a channel manually offset has no affect. You have to manually set the transmit frequency by saving 1st the receive channel then saving again the transmit frequency. It is very confusing at first.
In chirp you can set the transmit channel by selecting duplex mode and enter it. Or by using the offset, which is not exactly set but used to save the transmit frequency to the stored channel.
