PL2303 USB to Serial Driver for Mac OS X This driver worked well for me on a UV5r.
Has anyone been successful programing a UV3R with a Mac Book running os10.6.8

If the driver and programming cable worked well for the UV-5R, it should
work just as well for the UV-3R.

And as a OS-X 10.9 64 bit user I can confirm Jim's words. As long as OS-X and the driver play well Chirp will work flawlessly With established or supported Baofeng models.

My Cable with PL2303 chip started on Lion with UV6R which except for firmware and case is basically the same. Now at OS-X 10.9 the cable still behaves well. And that is the symbiosis between Chirp and the radio, how well the driver behaves with Chirp more so than with the radio. At least that's my interpretation so far.
