I have the baefeng BF-F8HP. I have downloaded the CHIRPS and i am trying to download from the radio but it is not reconizing the radio. Any ideas? I tried all the Baefeng radios listed. I did get a different error on the uv-3r i think it was, the last one on list that said it failed first step. All the others say radio did not respond. Anybody have any ideas.
You might have a driver problem. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver then connect your radio and try downloading again.

I am new to this particular game but I had the same problem with three Baofengs that I bought a week ago... I tried three Win systems and one Mac... Nothing! Then I remembered an old analog rule that if something is really weird - its probably contacts... And it was - really pushing hard on the connector into all the new radios solved the problem immediately. From outside the first connections looked good, no gaps or anything. The "click" was also there! But only additional hard push actually made the contact.
