Re: [chirp_users] USB Port defaulted to Bluetooth.
Hello Michael,
If I turn off bluetooth on my Mac, I will not be able to use my mouse or keyboard. Is there another way to get CHIRP to default to the correct USB port that my radio is connected to?
Thank you for your help!

I own a Baofeng BF-F8HP and the high end programming cable, but still cannot program my radio using my new MAC with OS X Sierra. When I try to link the radio to my computer, the CHIRP software defaults to my bluetooth port, not the FTDI Cable. I checked in System Information, USB ports, and my computer is seeing the cable, but CHIRP does not. How do I get CHIRP to see the correct cable and not my bluetooth port path?
With appreciation,
Thomas

I don't use Apple stuff, but on the Windows version (which should be the same?) you need to manually choose the USB port along with the radio brand/model.

That same procedure is used on a Mac. After starting Chirp, click on Radio then Download from Radio. Select the correct radio and model and also the port, choosing the USB port which is connected to the radio. If you are not sure which port is required, first look at the ports which are available with the cable to the radio disconnected from the computer and then see which port is added when you connect the cable. That will be the port you need to select. You don't need to turn off Bluetooth.

Chirp defaults to the last serial port used. There is no attempt to discover radios until after you select a port.
