[chirp_users] Yaesu FT-8900 and FTDI USB cable problem
Anybody get this cable to work with the radio ? I have installed the drivers on XP SP3. Comes up as COM5. CHIRP says the radio is not connected.
This is not a very specific description of your cable. There is no reason why a FTDI based cable should not work if wired correctly. There are specific steps that must be taken with Yaesu radios to put them into the proper clone mode. Make sure you follow them exactly.

This may sound funny, but make sure the cable is completely seated into the radio. Sometimes they go in a little stiff, and with a new radio it may feel like it’s properly inserted but it needs to be pushed in further.

Make sure you are getting the radio into the clone tx mode. don't forget to hit the set button so the radio blanks out then allows you to press v/m to start the radio to listen for Chirp.
