[chirp_users] TYT TH-UV3R Cable
As many others may have discovered, the "stock" programming cable does not work with Chirp. The program acts like it's downloading from the radio, I get the progress bar, etc, but then there is nothing in Chirp. Just a blank page in Chirp for my radio.
I know the problem lies with the Prolific chipset.
So I'm curious, what are other users who use this radio use for a cable?
David
You did not mention if you are on windows or mac? If on Windows, are you able to use the OEM programming software with said cable without any issues?

I have Windows 7, a late 2007 iMac or an Ubuntu 13.10 machine to choose from.
The cable works as expected on my Windows 7 machine and it seems to be detected by my Mac and Linux (using the "dmesg | grep tty" command from a terminal.
While useful, the "stock" programming software leaves a LOT to be desired.

Sorry David, I'm still not quite following.
Are you saying the cable works ok with stock programming software on windows, but will not work with chirp on windows? If so, can you confirm you are using the latest daily release of chirp?
If this is not so, please be explicit with where this is working and where this is not working, to include which OS and programming software you are using for each combination.

You probably need the correct driver, not sure how you do that though.

If the issue is a counterfeit Prolific chip, the older driver that doesn't test for this and further instructions can be found at

Worked a treat for me.
