[chirp_users] gmail & chirp.exe
FWIW #1, I'm being forced to change the file type to do an attachment of a CHIRP file to a gmail email. The CHIRP file extension is *.img; I can rename it to have a *.txt file name and then gmail will allow it to be attached to an email.
FWIW #2 when I tried to save a CHIRP file yesterday Win10 would not allow it to be saved.. I had to add CHIRP.exe to the controlled access list of programs in Settings/Update&Security/Controlled File Access.
Maybe others are fortunate and do not have these issues.
thanks, W5TAO
Yeah, a buddy and I just experienced the Gmail issue as well. I think we ended up sending to each other via drop box or something like that. Lame.

That doesn't sound like a problem with CHIRP...

Agreed. Not a chirp problem.

These are not actually issues, but more a security actions taken by Windows. Changing non standard extensions is a bit of a pain, but not uncommon.

#1 is gmail security. compress it to a zip and it should attach fine, and you'll save some space. #2 is windows security, relax your settings or add it to the access list as you found.

#1 This won't work. It is solely the ".img" extension that gmail blocks. Gmail temporarily extracts the file names within the ZIP file (even if it is encrypted with a password) and if the ".img" extension is present, the ZIP file will be blocked.
#2 It has nothing to do with Windows. You could be using Linux or macOS. If the file has a ".img" extension (even if it is simply a text file with the .img added to the end or the .txt changed to .img), gmail will block it.
As mentioned by the OP, a simple workaround is to tack on a different extension. ".txt" works. I have been using ".dat".
