[chirp_users] UV82 lapel/speaker mic query
Hi
I have several Baofeng radios, most recently added a UV82 (which has a dual PTT button on the radio)
On the others when the lapel/speaker mic is connected and the mic PTT is keyed the radio transmits on the currently selected channel either top or bottom.
On the UV82 (lapel/speaker mic is not a dual PTT) it *always* seems to transmit on the bottom channel.
I've trawled the menus and settings but cant see anything that might control this behaviour.
If anyone knows how to change this I'd be very grateful.
Thankyou
Dave

I have a UV82, mine is the "L" package off of Amazon, and it came with a earbud/lapel mic. This mic/ear speaker unit has two PTT buttons on it, one selects the bottom channel, the other selects the top.

On the UV82 if you are using a speaker mic it reverts to the bottom band. check out baofengtech.com. They have came out with a dual PTT speaker mic designed to work with the 82. They have a store through amazon. I have purchased the dual mic and works fine with the 82. The side ptt on the speaker mic does the bottom band, and there is a button on top of the speaker mic and that does the transmit on the top band.

Dave,
My mike also behaves this way. I've heard there's a new mic that allows you to use both bands.

There’s a dual PTT Spkr/Micr available from BaofengTech. http://baofengtech.com The side button selects the channel in display B, while the top button select display A. The standard Baofeng Sp/Mk always selects display B

thanks for all replies, prompted by John's mail below I took a look at miklor and they have a nice diagram showing how to wire the mic for the dual ptt and how to select top or bottom band
