This still requires the runtime, and it still actually downloads the source the first time you run it, but it's a start. If someone that is using chirp_osx.sh right now could try the new .app and validate that it works, I'd appreciate it.
Also tested on my macbook and the app download seems to work just fine. Looks good!

Ah, very good, thanks!
I'm actually planning another release of the runtime package that will, at least have a MacOS themed GTK for more native look-and-feel. At most, it will have a quartz-enabled GTK so that X11 isn't required, and so that the interaction is a little closer to normal.
More details on that later... :)
