I received the programming cable from Valley Ent. Plugged it in to the pc and to the 880h, but Chirp does not see it. I downloaded the Icom clonging software and it works perfectly.
Any thoughts?

Dick, If you are using Windows, you need to install the driver before ever plugging in the cable, or you will have problems. In that instance, if it was plugged into windows without installing the driver first, you may need to remove it from device manager, and install the windows driver, and then plug it in again. I think Linux does not need a driver installed. Well, maybe it was just a problem for my cable, but it stated windows in general. I think it said that windows would find a driver, but it will find the wrong one. It identifies the cable, but it will not work right. If your cable shows to be a Prolific, roll your driver back to 3.2.0.0.

Or change to a cable with a FTDI chip - the driver's far more stable. Honest. BTDT with Prolific. Valium helped me to calm down when it failed yet again. (only kidding about the Valium - the rest is too, too true)
