The biggest issue most people run into is not running the proper drivers when using a generic programming cable.
If you are running Vista, Win7 or Win8, your driver cannot be newer than Prolific 3.2.0.0
This driver is found in the DRIVERS and USB Cables section. If the wrong driver is installed, it will not work. http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_Drivers.php
