Jim, I compiled the notes from this thread and cross referenced twixt Baofeng-BTECH and CHIRP, so that I keep the relevance.
In my testing, I discovered a neat feature: In the 5X3, when using SYNC, and with the NAME in band A and freq in Band B, I normally scroll using Band A. If I swap to Band B, with freq displayed, and hit *, the display toggles twixt the RX and TX freqs, leaving the NAME displayed.

That would be expected. Tapping the [*] key to enable "reverse mode" swaps the TX and RX frequency of both display lines. The selected display line shouldn't matter. The MDF setting shouldn't matter.
But none of the above is actually CHIRP related. I would be happy to discuss non-CHIRP stuff off-line. Just email me direct.
