[chirp_users] CHIRP @ Wouxun KG-Q10H
Just bought the KG-Q10H, and immediately came here to see if CHIRP was now available for the radio. Looks like it's BETA, and that's fine...will wait till it's gold. I already have a Baofeng UV8 that I use the latest version of CHIRP with, so I'm now wondering if the programming cable I have now for the Baofeng will work. It's one of the recommended cables (when I first got my Baofeng, I came up here to get CHIRP and bought a good recommended cable), and I've physically plugged it into the Wouxun with no problems.
Of course, Wouxun wants to sell me their cable, for another $25, but if the one I now have works, I don't want yet another cable plugged into my computer. So what do you think? If it works well with the Baofeng, should it work with the Wouxun. I saw a remark from another BETA tester who said his "cheap Amazon cable was working fine."
Cheers -= Gary =-
Seems like the cheap ones work better in Linux than they do in windows. Sometimes you have to install an older prolific driver in windows to make them work. I mix up my cables, and what works in my Baofengs usually work in my other radios. If it works, it is good, it will let you know if it isn't working. My existing cable has never had a problem with my Baofeng, and it was a suggested cable (it's buried behind my computer, so I can't see the label) and not one of the cheap ones. What I had heard was that only the Wouxun cable would work, so the first thing I did was test the actual physical connection, and my cable fits the Wouxun radio perfectly.
So now I'm waiting for the CHIRP gurus to perfect the app for the KG-Q10H radio.

Hi Chief, Probably the CTCSS tones aren't the same as they were. If you don't identify any differences, hopefully you can upload your old file and get back what you had. Hello. I followed instructions per CHIRP. I was receiving lots of chatter on my Boafeng UV8 from miles around including the fire department prior to Uploaded and downloaded. I have now lost my chatter after downloading frequencies in my area.
All the frequencies up to 78 channels are showing. What did I do wrong.

Did you save your original image that was working? I would load that back up for starters and see if the radio is performing as before. Then we can go from there.

I had a cable for my uv5r and I got this uv5x3 radio and the same cable was giving me trouble. Sometimes work sometimes not had to plug it in and out a bunch of times. I ordered the cable recommended for the 5x3 and no more issues. So you may possibly need the other cable. There is one way to find out though haha! GL!

Hi Mark, If a cable only sometimes works, it is likely that the plastic block that holds the pins needs to be shaved at the corners so it will fit better in the recessed area where the plugs are on the radio.
