[chirp_users] Release File
Trying to add the chirp repository to Ubuntu 19.10. Keep getting this error: E: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/dansmith/chirp-snapshots/ubuntu eoan Release' does not have a Release file. N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
Have searched on the internet for answers but none have worked. Wondering if anyone else has seen this and, if so, managed to find a solution
Thanks, Dick, W4RSS
Hi Dick:
I have the same problem.
Resorted to using the generic linux .tgz download, works fine.

Open /etc/apt/sources.list in a text editor (as root user) e.g. sudo pluma /etc/apt/sources.list
Edit the chirp entry, adding [trusted=yes] as below: deb [trusted=yes] http://ppa.launchpad.net/dansmith/chirp-snapshots/ubuntu disco main
Save file. Log out/log in. sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade

When a new Ubuntu version is released it always takes a long time for the developers to add a repo for the new version. What I do is download the tar file and run it locally. You should also be able to use the repo from the previous version.

Just backdate the entry in /etc/apt/sources.list to an earlier ubuntu version that you know works.
