[chirp_users] CODE PLUG

NEED A IMAGE FOR THE UV5R+, FIRMWARE IS 5NR-20 // BFB-297, I CHANGED IT SOMEHOW.
THANK YOU,
WAYNE WS3PC/N3PC

Well, I'm new to Ham Radio and programming, but I got the latest build (0.4.1) to run on my Raspberry Pi.
The instructions for running under Linux call for installing "python-gtk", which the Raspian OS could not find. So I tried "python-gtk2" which it did find and install and everything seems to work. At least for my Baofeng UV82.
I have an iPad and am really trying to avoid buying another laptop for traveling. This solves that problem. I carry my iPad and a Raspberry Pi and do all I need.
Thanks for CHIRP. Ric Honey KK4SZO
Pardon typos. Sent from my iPad.

Ric,
I wouldn't recommend using the CHIRP v0.4.0 or v0.4.1 stable with Baofeng radios because of recent changes to the firmware. You are probably OK with an original UV-82, but if you should need to program a UV82C, BF-F8HP or one of the new UV-5R (including the many variants) you are urged to use CHIRP daily-20140717 or later/newer.

Thanks for the heads-up... fortunately, it's just a plain UV-82. Ric

Just out of curiosity, are you somehow using the iPad as a console for the Raspberry Pi?
Otherwise, I would think you'd need some sort of monitor, keyboard, and mouse to connect to the RPi.

I've used an iPad running iSSH to create a VNC session on the RPi. It works, but I would not recommend it if you intend to do a lot of editing.

Wayne,
I am not able to duplicate this issue. Would you email your .img file to me so I can use it to investigate what you issue might be? It might not hurt to have a copy of your debug.log file, too. Here is how you find it.
