[chirp_users] Chirp not talking to radio on MAC
Hi All,
I have just recently purchased a Baofeng BF-F8HP and installed Chirp on my Mac Pro. I am unable to connect to the radio to download the initial configuration. I played around with all of the suggested tip and tricks for the Mac (running High Sierra) and was not able to get the software to talk to the radio.
I pulled out an old Windows 7 laptop and installed the latest versions of Chirp and Prolific drivers for my USB-to-Serial cable and all works perfectly...
So, this tells me that the radio is working as designed and the cable is working with the latest Prolific drivers.
Anyone else having an issue with Chirp on Macs?
I am also having problems (see my posts from the past few days). However, my probelm is a bit different in that I can download from but not upload to my Yaesu VX-5R. Also I have no trouble up or downloading to my Btech UV-5X3 (though that may use a different driver). It’s quite frustrating. I too may have to resort to Windows.

Maybe it's time to break out the Mac issues from the rest. That way those interested in Mac can discuss it to their hearts content and the other don't have to read about it.

I have to agree with you – in part. However, I – a Windows users – have friends who use Linux (and if I understand correctly the last version of Mac OS are a variation of Linux <?????>) so it’s convenient to be able to go to one place to find solutions to all our challenges with Chirp.
Possibly Prefixing the Subject line with Windows / Mac / Linux might help us by not having to look at items of which we know nothing and help those who have other O/S’s look at what they need.
Personally, there isn’t enough traffic here to really bother me any way
