Re: [chirp_users] Cannot Upload to Yausu VX-6
I'm having the same problem trying to upload to my Yaesu VX-7R as that which is described in Issue 1433. I was able to download the image, made some changes and now cannot upload it back. The only thing different from what was identified in Issue 1433 is I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and the new Apple FTDI drive is not utilized. I'm running the FTDI 2.2.18 driver downloaded from their site. Is there any update regarding 10.8.5 and the FTDI driver? I have not been able to locate any issues regarding FTDI and 10.8.5. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried various changes to the Info.plist file, as suggested by FTDI site documents, but nothing seems to make any deference. So, after several weeks of frustration, I'm looking for any suggestions/help. The cable I'm using was purchased from Valley Enterprises and my system does "see" it and so does CHIRP. It sure does sound like it's a driver issue, but I just don't know were to go from here.
I've include the System Panic Report and the CHIRP debug.log, which I ran just before I Forced Quit the program, which causes the system panic. That is the only way I can get CHIRP to stop trying to upload. I would send the after reboot debug.log, but CHIRP automatically restarts and clears the log.

I actually did not have the Apple FTDI driver under OSX 10.8.5, so upgraded to Mavericks and removed the driver supplied by FTDI (2.2.18). I was resisting the upgrade, but finally did. Now I'm able to run CHIRP and uploaded to the VX-7R.

Lets see if we can get you going. I do have CHIRP 0.4.0 working on three Mac computers and communicating with two Yaesu VX-6R HTs.
The first action I suggest is that you update to Mac OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks. Mavericks is a free operating system update from Apple, so don’t hold back on updating.
Once you have Mac OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks installed, then the connection Port you want to select in CHIRP is:
You cannot read the full connection Port name in the above screen shot. It is: /dev/cu.usbserial-A702RBLF
This is the USB / FTDI chip driver from Apple but only available with Mac OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks.
Second, what USB to Serial cable are you using? I am using a pair of Yaesu USB VX-7 FTDI cables, part # RPC-Y7R-U, from Valley Enterprises.
FWIW: you are having a driver problem and not a CHIRP problem.
Stick with me, and I’ll get you going. It just may take a few back-and-forth tries.

One word of caution before updating to Mavericks. Uninstall the FTDI driver *before* you upgrade. This will allow OS X to default to its own Apple driver for FTDI. Refer to the installation guide, section 4: http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documents/AppNotes/AN_134_FTDI_Drivers_Insta...
