I have a Yaesu FT 270R and tried to program it via CHIRP...but it looks like this model is not covered. Any wizards out there that will be adding this model to the programming list in CHIRP in the not too distant future?

Have you tried the FT-170? It is the predecessor to the 270.

The 270r isn't a supported radio yet.
I use this software and works nicely with the radio. It does cost $15 but is well worth it. http://www.g4hfq.co.uk/ftb270.htm
