[chirp_users] programming error Baofeng UV-5R V+
Just got this thing and followed directions exactly. Drivers loaded ok from the web. Tried to do the initial READ function under 'RADIO' and I got a error message several times. Volume was set up high. I am considering sending this back because Baofeng seems to be to 'FINIKY' which leaves me to think it may be a source of ongoing frustration. Any thoughts please.
Make sure the programming cable is solidly plugged into the ht, that gave me lots of errors initially

my first several tries had me pulling my hair out!
1) make sure you look on the right side of the download screen and make sure you download the "2may2015" build!!
2) if you are using windows 7, right click on it, goto properties, then compatibility and run it in "windows xp sp3"
those two things took away all my troubles as i run win7 64bit On May 9, 2015 6:08 PM, doogle1953@fastmail.net wrote:

Well first we need to relax.. 2nd I believe you have incorrect drivers installed. If it is not a true real prolific the current driver will not play nice with it.. Im thinking this the starting point and depends on what your operating system is for the correct driver.
Here's a great set of detailed instructions on the drivers and install instructions. http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_Drivers.php

As Todd suggested, let's relax. There's a 99% or greater chance that's your radio is perfectly fine.
When you tried to Download from Radio, the was an error message. What we need to start is What was the error message? Refer to http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_ErrorMess.php
Drivers loaded from the web. The question remains, did the Proper drivers load okay from the web? If you are running Windows, go to http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_Drivers.php
to determine whether the proper driver loaded for your cable. Some require a backdated driver.
The solution to the issue is more than likely rather simple.
