[chirp_users] Norton Won't Allow Newest Daily Build to Load
My Norton antivirus tells me: "chirp-daily-20180123-installer.exe is not safe and has been removed." I tried forcing with "download anyway", or "run anyway" and it still won't allow the newest download. Using Windows 7, and last successful download of a daily build was 20171229. Any suggestions? That's what Norton does. Switch to a free one.

Ahh, the fun of dealing with Norton and it's ilk. Sounds like you need to turn off Norton while you are installing Chirp. I would do this, I would download the live CD image and run it in a virtual machine thereby circumventing all of that.

False positive. Consider using something else for you AV program. I've never had a problem using the free Microsoft Security Essentials AV.

I had the same problem. I went into the Norton screen and found the option to turn off the virus protection for a set time (I think it was 15 min). I then downloaded and installed the newest Chirp daily build successfully.. In a message dated 1/23/2018 2:57:26 PM Pacific Standard Time, rock.unroe@gmail.com writes:

This is a bit off topic but I wonder if it's related.
For several years I've used the linux wget command to download the daily builds from the website. In the last few weeks, wget complains about the certificate: ERROR: The certificate of ‘trac.chirp.danplanet.com’ is not trusted. ERROR: The certificate of ‘trac.chirp.danplanet.com’ hasn't got a known issuer. To force a download, I add the --no-check-certificate flag.
Maybe that is what Norton is complaining about.
Been there done that! I had to open up Norton and tell it to turn itself off for 15 minutes, then I was able to download and install the latest build. I suspect that I will have to do this every time I want to install a new build from now on. Norton possibly has added some "enhancements" in an attempt to protect us from zero day threats?
