[chirp_users] TYT TH-UVF8D Support (New Model #1057)
How do I get full support for the TYT TH-UVF8D, shown as New Model #1057, from 8/11/2013?
I installed Chirp Version 0.4.1 last October, under Windows XP SP3 + all fixes.

CHIRP should replace the stable build with a link to LATEST Daily Build.
Get the latest daily build, never use the stable build, it is so very outdated.
The CHIRP website has notes on what models are supported. Sometimes the model has to use a different model number because of rebranding of models.

If you want US tech support, buy one of the $300 Japanese HTs. Your cheap radio comes with cheap service.
There are lots of ways to make cheap international phone calls: Skype, Google Voice, etc.

I bet that drops to about a nickel a minute on a landline, or less. ($0.02/minute on my landline here in Canada.) Overseas phone calls from North American mobile numbers are atrociously expensive.

For manually programming the Wouxon UV-8D use the attached file. I think I got the original form mikor.com but have modified it considerably. It was originally for just the Baofeng UV-5R series. I found a need to modify it for the Baofeng UV-82 as the commands are very similar. I have incorporated the required command for the Wouxon UV-8D as they are also similar. Though not all of the commands are required for the UV-8D.
Read the document carefully. It does work as I have all three radios and have tested it on each of them.

The October CHIRP v0.4.1 was a failed attempt to not be able to upload incompatible images into the Baofeng radios with N5R firmware. Other than that it is really v0.4.0 which is now 1 year old.
