Any comment on the icon used and the name and where it resides on a linux box?
Please don't hijack threads.
You said you had it working, so I didn't follow up. I'm not sure why this is so confusing, but let me try to be very clear:
The icon should be in /usr/share/pixmaps/chirp.png and it should look like the icon on the top left of the website.
Since no one has answered my question I didn't have the Icon, however yes the application is working. I still don't know why the icon did not show up when the application was installed in the first place. I do get the daily builds from the PPA as I had setup as first explained, no icon since then. I will now attempt to get a launcher with the icon. Thanks for pointing me at the right location anyway.

If the icon is in the Chrip daily build then all you have to do is right click on the dummy icon then you will choose properties, and then choose change icon. Then browse and go where chrip is on your computer and click on the icon and then okay and then apply back on the properties menu, then okay and there is your icon.
Don't know about any other way to do it but when it happens to me on other programs that is the simple solution. I like to change icons sometimes.

It's easy to see why you don't post your email address with your comments. This guy wants help and all you do is reprimand him like he's a child.
How do you live with yourself? I'm the owner of several ham radio Yahoo news groups with thousands of members and not once have I ever replied in such a smug, self conceited manner as you often do. I doubt you have the balls to allow this post to propagate being the censorious swell-headed arse you are Dan but just maybe, you'll grow a set and let this comment propagate so all can get a feeling of what those who aren't your "sheeple" feel about you.
Shame on you
