Raymond,
I have Linux Mint 16 Mate here. I'm pretty sure the downloaded driver isn't necessary. Mint has built-in support for the FTDI chip.
Do all of the following in "terminal"
To install the stable version of CHIRP, follow the instructions here: http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Running_Under_Linux
To install the daily-build version of CHIRP, follow the instructions here: http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Download
In both cases you will have to add your user to the "dialout" group. sudo usermod -a -G dialout <your user name> (replace <your user name> with your user name)

I am presently using Win7hp, Chirp and FTDI cable and everything works great. However, I am learning to use Linux 16 / Mint with the Cinnamon Desktop. I have downloaded the FTDI Linux 0.4.16 driver and some instructions I don't understand. The problem is, I have not a clue of where to go from there. Is there anyone out there that can help me get this driver installed and etc.? _______________________________________________ chirp_users mailing list chirp_users@intrepid.danplanet.com http://intrepid.danplanet.com/mailman/listinfo/chirp_users
