Hi
I am a new member to the Chirp user group and have a question.
I have downloaded Chirp to Xubuntu 12.04 using Synaptic Package Manager and set it up to try to work with the VX5R. I get an error message after trying to connect. The connection is via a USB to serial adapter which has worked before with the rig. The software is configured to use ttyUSB0 which is correct, I see that /dev/ttyUSB0 has permissions of: crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 188, 0 Sep 23 17:22 /dev/ttyUSB0
So I put myself in the dialout group as such: dialout:x:20:marty
and have rebooted the machine a couple of times since that time. First is the entry in group correct, my login id is marty?
Second has anyone else had this problem with VX5R rigs.
The version of Chirp I am using is 0.1.12, I just loaded it yesterday sometime.
On another not, I have a system running Win XP and loaded Chirp on it too and am getting much the same response. Only on that system I was connecting via serial port. I was able to connect and download and modify using Vx5 Commander and EVE, not very well mind you but it did work.
Any ideas.
