Correct. You have to look on the CHIRP Settings -> Other Settings menu panel to get the "real" firmware version. Then upload the matching "factory" CHIRP Radio Image file.
Glad you got it sorted out. Now make sure you are running the latest CHIRP daily build so you won't be able to accidentally upload an incompatible image file in the future.
