[users] Error message connecting Baofeng UV-5R to MacBook Air M2

Received this radio as a gift. Downloaded Chirp and connected the radio via usb c adapter to my MacBook and receive a RADIO DID NOT RESPOND error. Any idea how to fix this? Quite frustrating! Thank you for any suggestions. Lisa
