i have tried to install on a windows 7 machine and i get "Error opening for right"
I have turned off virus protection no change

Is it possible the baud rate is in correct causing Chirp to go out and look but not find the radio? Can I change that in Chirp?
You've sent this mail to the list three times. Once is plenty.
The kenwood driver in chirp probes for the baud rate, so, no, it should be fine.
