Hi Ron I had the time so I opened the issue myself and fixed the bug.
You will see the fix in next days daily build.
The power column will still be unchangeable beacuse (as far as I know) there is only one general power set in ft817, you can find it in settings-general tab, no way to set power for single channels.
BTW You are perfectly right: for widebanded ft817 (ft857 and ft897 as well) you have to use non US model.
Tnx for finding this bug

I'm a new Chirp user and have probably overlooked something simple but have run into a problem I can't seem to figure out.
I'm using the latest build of Chirp, daily-20130411, and am running from a Mac Mini, OS X Lion, through an FTDI USB cable. No problems communicating with the radio, an FT-817ND.
I have broadbanded it so am using the generic FT-817ND template, not the US model, which doesn't seem to work with a broadbanded radio.
As stated, I have loaded an image of my radio, and have successfully modified several memories. However, I am unable to make the Home channels take a different tone frequency. No matter what I put in, it remains at 88.5 and gives an error box saying "rtone not supported on this channel."
The normal channels accept the Tone value without issue. I also just noticed that I can't set the Power on Home channels as well.
So am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
