David, I respectfully disagree. When using CHIRP to program a UV-5R, it makes no difference if the radio is in VFO (frequency) or MR (channel) mode. It also doesn't matter if the A (top) line or B (bottom) line is selected.
When programming the UV-5R using the keypad, the radio MUST be in VFO mode with the A line selected.
