I know this is not a good question for this mailing list but I cannot miss the opportunity to ask. With so many choices of models of the UV5 I cannot determine what would be best. Anyone know a link that compares the features of the models?

I thought so myself, but it is having problems with the "E" model and is not connecting. The nice new case looks stronger, harder plastic and a shinny metal front. Just will not connect. Very frustrating. I use it for work and ham both, just love it.

Alan,
All cables for the UV5R, RE, RA, R+ etc are all compatible.
CHIRP will also work with the entire series of UV5R.

My question is, with all the different models. Just what is the difference if any between model a-b-c- and model E for instance. My model "E" will not work with my plain UV-5R.
The dealer I bought it from is saying that I need a cable specific for this model.
Is this untrue? Is there a difference that demands another cable? If so what newer model should I get as I try to return the two I bought for a friend and myself.
Very Disappointed
Thanks
Alan
