The 8900 does not have banks. Also, the 8800 can have separate programming on the left and right sides, but the 8900 only has one set of memories. One side can do all 4 bands, the other side can only do uhf and vhf. You can read about the differences in the 8800 and 8900 manuals. So, basically, CHIRP is properly set up.

I have a FT-8800 which I have programmed with Chirp.  Work mostly fine.  I recently purchased an FT-8900 and downloaded the settings from the radio and found that there are no Banks tab, or right memory tab, or Settings tab, which are also missing from the FT-8800 page.

Are there plans to complete the FT-8900 file layout to where the banks can be programmed?

What would it take to contribute to the effort?  I have many years of programming experience, but have no clue as to what is involved with the different rig definition files.

Thanks,
