After a lot of searching
for drivers and looking at recommended cables to purchase, I came across
an app that is free and is able to identify which chipset your cable is
using. It can be downloaded from
https://www.mac-usb-serial.com/ and
correctly identified my cable as having the pl2303 chipset. The best
part is that for a small fee ($10 USD,) THEY HAVE WORKING DRIVERS FOR
THE PROLIFIC CHIPPED CABLES!
Radio and computer are now happily talking to each other!
