You could try putting a USB soundcard in the computer where sound is out. This one works in Ubunrltu and Raspberry Pi OS without requiring manual configuration:  LZYCO USB Audio Adapter 2 Packs,USB to Audio Jack External Stereo Sound Card with One 3.5mm Aux TRRS Headphone or Headset to USB Adapter for Integrated Audio Out & Microphone in, Do Not Work for TV https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B072J7WLQ5/

Alternatively, if you are running Linux on the computer that has sound,  you can forward X over ssh  to allow GUI programs running on the shack machine to run on the machine with sound. The -X (dash capital x) option added to your ssh command would do it. The screen reader shouldn't have any trouble with it, since it's I distinguishable from having it run on the local Linux box.

Hi,
For some reason, the audio is out on my Ubuntu in my shack, on the computer
I have connected to my Kenwood TS 2000.
I can SSH into it from elsewhere in the house though.
I have Chirp installed on the computer that is connected to the Kenwood 2K.
I usually install Chirp in the CLI, but I have always used it in the GUI.
So, since for now, I only have use of the computer for programming my radio
via SSH, I'm wondering if there is a way to read and write to the radio via
SSH.
Thanks.

Glenn

I forgot to mention, I cannot use a computer directly without audio, because
that is how I use a screenreader.
I forgot that this list has sighted users who may not know why loss of audio
is a problem.
