Jim, thanks for your help!  I really do appreciate it.

This might be a little over my head though.

I'm pretty good with computers for a novice, but I cannot find the .img file.  If I could find it I could email it to you.

Also, I tried to follow the instructions to use Unetbootin, but I don't even know which distribution to select?  Plus, I bet I'd be lost once I re-booted to the USB drive.  I know how to re-boot to a bootable hard drive with OSX, but beyond that I'm afraid I might get lost.

Again, thanks for your help.  I'm sure you're busy, but I don't want to take too much of your time helping me with something that is probably pretty remedial.

Rob,

I don't have a Mac, but when you select File followed by Save, surly you will get to choose where you want to save the .img file just like Windows or Linux.

Thanks Jim.

I'm downloading the CHIRP Live CD right now.

How do I find the chirp .img file?

Rob,
I don't have a Mac here. Just Windows 7 and Linux Mint.

There are a couple of thing that you can do.

1. Download and burn CHIRP Live CD to a USB flash drive and use it temporarily to program your radio.

2. Email you CHIRP .img file to me, I will enable the Menu Available setting and email it back.

Hello everyone.

I was hoping you could help me out.

I just received my Wouxun KG-UV6X.  As expected it showed up with the keyboard locked.

I have a MAC running on OSX 10.9.2.  There were several references on the internet suggesting that Chirp can unlock the keyboard.

I am using a USB cable that I have successfully worked with about 15 Wouxun UV3D's as well as a kenwood TH-F6, so I'm pretty darn sure my cable works.

I was able to download from radio on my new UV6X and upload to radio a few frequencies that I need for work tomorrow (Safety/Rescue technician for a large exploration project).

I am unable to unlock the menu feature on the radio.

I was expecting to be able to click on the settings button in Chirp and access that option, and others, from there (similar to the KG-UV3D's I've programmed.  However, when I click on the Settings button I get nothing but a blank screen.

I tried to download the free software from the Wouxun site, but of course my OS does not support it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
