Hi Robert,
There is a new batch of BTECH (Generation 3) out there that don't have Chirp support yet, that apply for recently purchased ones (yes for all the three models of BTECH).
We have the IDs and all programming details thanks to the cooperation of the OEM and a patch with support for those radios is on the develop queue ready to apply.
Oops!!!
Writing this email I noticed that the patch was applied just a minutes ago, tomorrow we will have new Chirp version with support for these radios.

I have recently acquired the Btech UV5001. I also have the Btech UV2501+200 and the FTDI cable and the latest drivers. I am able to download and upload on the 2501+200, but I have not been able to have a successful download with the 5001. I continually receive the error that the radio os unable to be identified. I am able to program manually but I hate not having the ability for uniform programming with my other radios via CHIRP and my saved CSV files. Is anyone still working on the UV5001? the radio works well, I just want to be able to program with CHIRP. The problem as explained to me is Windows program runs too fast . Radio cannot go into program mode fast enough before program times out. Pavel wrote a patch that made program try 3 times before giving up. That still did not fix problem. I asked about a month ago if any solution had been found, no reply. The only other way is to locate an older model computer that can run original MSDOS based software. Ebay about $130 plus price of software. Again good luck hate to toss my radio its in nice shape. (I'm in change of the communication procedures for that also...) I will revisit the Kenwood TK-760 driver as soon as I can get free time, sorry for the delay on solving this. 73.
