[chirp_users] FT-8900 Banks and Settings missing

I have a FT-8800 which I have programmed with Chirp. Work mostly fine. I recently purchased an FT-8900 and downloaded the settings from the radio and found that there are no Banks tab, or right memory tab, or Settings tab, which are also missing from the FT-8800 page.

Are there plans to complete the FT-8900 file layout to where the banks can be programmed?

What would it take to contribute to the effort? I have many years of programming experience, but have no clue as to what is involved with the different rig definition files.
