This is a fine program. I never bad mouthed it in any way. If I did not think it was great, I'd never would have asked for help getting to work for me.

Why do you think I did a "crapshot" to Dan? All I did was ask for help and nothing more. I think his and others work is great. Did you by chance mix me up with another person?

Either way, I never meant to start a flame war. I love CHIRP. I just wanted to work with the FT-7900.

Dan, thank you very much for your input; and your efforts to make this CHIRP program.

I did try in windows 7 to get CHIRP to see and work with the 7900 by way of the 7800. It came back with an error that it did not see header 0 so failed.

Then I tried it on Mac and it will not see the connected port at all to even try to hook up to the 7900.

I think I might be missing a driver in both the Mac and in Windows 7.

Phaeton, thank you for your advice as well I will give that ftb-7900 a try if I can not get CHIRP to connect.

Please dont become upset at anyone over my question. I am 100% new at this, and have zero idea on what and how to do this stuff.

Wow, first he says it is a fine program, then a crapshot. This was completely uncalled for Mark. Dan is volunteering and contributing his time, effort and money to build this application and offers it for FREE. READ FREE. He owes you nothing. No support, no help, nada. I'll bet you never even contributed to him to support his efforts.

The program works for me and thousands of other hams.

Because it does not work for you, or does not support the radio you want it to, or whatever, you lash out at the guy?

Completely and utterly uncalled for. You owe Dan a public apology.

I personally am glad this was posted for everyone to see. Now we all know what a jerk you are.

Dan, sorry about this uncalled for and completely unreasonable post. Please know that 99.999% of the other clear thinking hams are very grateful for your time and effort.

because simply put, Chirp is a crapshot at best

to use even with the listed radios.
