Good news for the new Boafeng UV-B5. Richard sent me a one line change, and it worked!!
I can now download from the UV-B5. Uploading also seems to work, I just get a Radio NAK'd block at address 0x0f10. That seems to be the test mode data, and that is no longer supported on my new UV-B5.
It would be great if this change could be included in the official source/daily/next release! Also it would be great if the test mode data sending error could be suppressed for radios that do not support that any more.

@Jim Many thanx for the workaround. It works. But it would be great to get the new firmware also supported in Chirp for up/downloading from/to radio. Would it be possible to have a checkmark to accept any identity if the radio type is set to UV-B5/B6? Eg. do not care what radio sends, and just go on? Also it would be great to check when a NACK comes back if it is the first byte of the test data. If yes, then the propability is very high, that everything is OK, and that the firmware simply does not accept test data!
I will gladly test beta builds.
PS: As mentioned earlier, in the mailinglist welcome message a beta download link is referenced, that gives a 404.
@Richard I will gladly test compiled code. Did not receive anything to test yet.
