A friend has a new Wouxun KG-UV8E.
Someone said it
would work with the Wouxun KG-UV8D selection of the daily build of
CHIRP.
dmesg tail reveals that the Wouxun programmiing cable is
using /dev/tty/USB0 which is owned by root and group uucp.
So I added
uucp to my user's groups.
ls /dev/ttyUSB0 -l

I tried the same cable and radio on Windows 10 using the CHIRP
latest daily build
Same error - could not communicate with radio.
Using the Wouxun software with correct driver on Win10, same
error.
Any suggestions?
