Re FT-817 no longer talking to Chirp after accidental CPU reset
I remember now I widebanded the radio with the Region setting solder blobs on the back of the control board. And No I still cant talk to the FT-817

yes the FT-817 was wide banded a long time ago. I can't remember how I did it. Hardware or software.
At least you put me on the right track, thanks.
I tried HOME + Power reset and it did not help.
I'll try fixing baud rate to 9600. I can listen with Crystal earpiece (poor man's oscilloscope) on Data cable and hear PC sending but can hear nothing coming from the FT-817 (TXD) to the PC.
I'll report back what I find.
