Might have to go to the ACL and take ownership recursively of all
the files in the Chirp folder. Right click on folder, Security, take ownership
or something like that.

I think the first thing I'd check is to make sure that the user account
on the Vista machine has full read/modify permissions in whatever folder
you're trying to save the file to. When I moved a lot of files and
folders from a Win7 laptop to a Win8 machine, the Win8 laptop wouldn't
let me save anything to the transferred folders until I went in and
fixed the permissions--and never said anything. It just failed silently,
as you're seeing now. Since Win 7 and 8 are updated versions of Vista,
it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was a permissions problem.

Hi I am having trouble with Chirp. I have chirp running a windows XP home desk top and it works great. I have it running on windows 7 Laptop and it works great.
My son windows Vista Laptop and we are having trouble openning a file or saving it.
When I have a file download from the UV5R I can enter anything that I want to. but I can not save that file. When I click "save as" it does nothing at all. If I close the program it opens a little window open and asks if I want to save, delete or cancel, I select save and nothing happens.
I can also click open from the file drop down and nothing opens or happens.
I think this Vista machine is the problem, what do you think
