To close out a thread, it was operator error that prevented display of station name on my 2200. No bug to be opened or killed, just a noob.
Thanks for the program and the support; I look forward to learning with it.

If you're still looking for a Vista report, the screen painting issue seems to have disappeared with this build:
GTK 2.24.10 PyGTK 2.24.0 Python 2.7.2
Excellent, thanks!
Using a prolific cable to an Icom 2200H it read the radio no problem. I have not been able to get memory names to update on the radio, but I'm unfamiliar with the rig and with Chirp so I still have it classed as operator error. I'll let you know if and when I get tired of blaming myself.
Perhaps CHIRP is setting the names, but not the flag to have them displayed by default? Try adjusting the ANM setting in the menu. If so, open a bug on the website and I'll get it fixed.
Thanks!
