I have good communications between the computer and the radio. It reads and writes successfully, except ...

I get an error message on write even though the radios says "PASS". The error message is " An error has occurred. Failed to communicate with radio. 'Serial' object has not attribute 'read'." I did a full reset, downloaded and installed the latest Chirp version and it still says the same thing. I am running Windows 7.

The other strange thing the radio does now is that it shows empty channels with the VFO contents and the 'M' blinking when in the memory mode. That hasn't happened before. There is nothing in the menu settings related to this and I cannot find anything regarding this new feature in the manual.

Any help would be appreciated.
