CHIRP sees the USB connection and starts the download. Send on the radio's end finishes with progress bar almost complete on CHIRP. After a few seconds, I get an error message stating: RadioError: Failed to communicate with radio: Unable to read last block. This often happens when the selected model is US but the radio is a non-US one (or widebanded). Please choose the correct model and try again.
... and I assume you have selected the correct radio model right?
Both Digirig and the alternate CAT cable have worked with previous versions of the software.
How "previous" are we talking? I haven't used one of these radios with CHIRP in about three years, but the driver also has not changed since then. I can try to repro with an FT-817 tomorrow and see if it works for me.
Debug Log Follows.
Please file a bug using the in-CHIRP tool, which will send a lot more information. This is the users list and low-level debug is not really appropriate here.
I'll admit I never had to look in the debug log before, has the 857 always used the 817 drivers?
Yes, they're effectively the same driver. The FT-817 implementation came first, so that's why it identifies as such.
Please file a bug per:
https://www.chirpmyradio.com/projects/chirp/wiki/How_to_report_issues
and let's continue there. Any details about which variant of the 857 you have would be helpful in that bug as well.
