If you have the fake Prolific chip in your cable, go to www.miklor.com and look for driver 3.2.0.0. It is easy to roll back the drivers if you need to. Having the FTDI cables is nice, but I have several cables for many different radios that use the same driver. Not as big of a deal as some would lead you to believe.

I ran into repeated issues with cables and drivers until I finally just opted for FTDI cables for both mobile and handheld. Problems solved immediately.

Just ordered a UV5 and cable and have heard that the correct driver is hard to locate.

Any truth and where to find it.
