I just started using CHIRP to program my Yaesu VX-7R.

I used CHIRP recently with a Baofeng UV5R and noticed that there was tab to change the radio settings.  I don't see this tab for the VX-7R.

Am i missing something, or is this capability just not in CHIRP for the VX-7R?

Richard,

What you see is all the VX-7 driver supports. So, no, you aren't missing anything.

How fully developed each driver is depends on several factors. Each radio has to be reverse engineered. The length of time a radio is on loan may be limited. The time the original author has to work on the project may have also been limited. So it isn't unusual for a support for a radio to start out with the bare minimum. Any further development requires someone with access to the same radio with and interest in taking the project further.

The UV-5R started out with just basic support and a couple dozen settings. Then several other interested developers over the last two years or so have continued working on the UV-5R driver to the point where it supports nearly every setting that the factory software has plus a few more.
