Mike hi, thanks.
I'm on openSUSE. It "installed" the RPM at the URL below, but nothing happened. (Duh, of course, I'm not on Fedora, but I just wanted to see what would happen. Nothing happened... :-)
Would you please post just the raw URL for the repository? OpenSUSE software manager will try to install any repository given the full URL.
Then I could try that directly in the openSUSE software manager and see if my system sees it.

Meanwhile, spent the weekend dodging Hurricane Irene. In the course of that I found a chain of internet news sites ("Patch") that autopost Twitter, email, and direct posts, as well as subscribe to tweet channels selected by net control. Days ahead of print media, hours ahead of TV channels for up to date current events. Plus none of the problems we have on repeater voice systems of having to be actually listening at the time of a transmission.

They use a commercial package, CoverItLive:
How cool would it be for D-RATS to be such a thing for D-STAR?!!
Of course they are toast if the cable system or other internet feeds go down. So it occurred to me that D-STAR would be a perfect solution! What with internet drops at the gateways and the extended range of gateway chains it would be a perfect emergency alternative to the "wired" internet (Cox Cable, et al carriers). For example, while Cox stayed up, two different cell phone networks went down... And on Aquidneck Island cable internet was useless as the power was out for over 24 hours.

So anyhow, will shortly install d-rats and start experimenting but an openSUSE repo would be fun for both d-rats and chirp.
Thanks again.

All,
Linux Fedora RPMs for the latest chirp-daily build are now available in the KK7DS Ham-Apps yum repository.
To add the repository as a software source, please follow these instructions: http://www.d-rats.com/component/content/article/30-d-rats-yum-repository/
I know it says d-rats, the chirp files are in the same repository
After setting up the repository, open the "Add/Remove Software" tool and go to "software sources" under the system menu. Make sure the "KK7DS Ham Apps Beta Software" line is checked (enabled).
For some reason, the Fedora package manager likes the beta versions better that the daily builds, so you may not see the daily release in the list the first time you update. If you don't see it, open a terminal window and enter: yum update chirp-daily_08292011
Or, If you are running Fedora fc13 or earlier, enter: yum update chirp-daily_08292011-1.fc13
That should install the latest daily build.
Happy Testing!
