Hi,
I'm back.
I tried 2 different cables.
I have the proper driver.
I could never get Chirp to work. Same error message with any combination of cables.
I got the CS-V82 software and it works fine so I used that. Only drawback there was I had
to reload my entire program by hand. The transfer feature of Chirp would not work either.
Anyway the radio is working but it has problems also. It is supposed to narrow band but the mod
is well over 2.5. I'm going back to CW for awhile.
Thanks for the help.
Don

Your cable is more than likely okay.
The driver for Win7 is Prolific 3.2.0.0, XP is 2.0.2.1
Any driver newer than that will have potential issues.
The proper drivers are available there.
If you are receiving error messages, refer to the miklor.com Error Message page.
Please report back to see if this resolves the issue.
Hope this helps.

I had the same issue on my UV 5R, it was a cable problem. There are at least 2 different cables available, the one with the silver label worked
perhaps the programming cable's driver is a problem

I have a programming cable #SN: HNT1208A002.
I have the CHIRP software.
I have
tried several com ports.
I have tried 2 different computers. One with Win7. The other with XP.
I can't get the radio to talk to the computer.
When trying to download from the radio I get the error message:
"Unable to probe radio band"
