As promised, I booted up my mac air that has Ubuntu-mate 21.10, the version before the current release (22.04). I have the same trouble. Chirp on this machine is installed via apt (sudo apt-get install chirp). If I run Chirp either by command line, or through Mate's accessories menu, I can access the menu bar, the file open dialogue, and the download dialogue, but no access to the memories tab, or settings tab once I've opened an image from my Baofeng UV5R. When I open the image, Orca says memories tab, but tab key and arrow keys yield silence. I'm not sure what, but something is definitely broken in the Python 3 version of Chirp accessibility wise. Should we file a bug report against Chirp, or Orca? Thanks for any input anyone has on this matter.

Glenn, that's a good idea about exporting to csv and editing in libre calc. Unfortunately though, when I pressed tab once, I heard silence. I think Jim could be onto something with a setting being out of range. I did send my baofeng .img file so he can examine it. Thanks much for your help.

Hi Guy, I typically tab once and you will be off the memories tab and you can arrow around like any spread sheet. Note, editing with Orca, I haven't found easy, so I export it to a CSV file and fix it up in Libra Calc and then import the new file, and then upload to the radio. HTH. I am happy to report that I have made progress. I got Chirp running with python 3 support by cloning this git repository: https://github.com/mpoletiek/py3-CHIRP
I am able to navigate the menu bar, and download an image from my radio. My next question is, how do I make Orca announce what is in the memory? It will say memories page tab, but then is silent, no matter what I press. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Guy

Joe, have you gotten chirp to work with orca using the flatpack?
I tried to install it that way, and no part of the window was accessible. It does read, if I install it using apt. I am totally blind, so I definitely need it to work with the orca screen reader. JAWS Certified, 2021,https://www.freedomscientific.com/Training/Certification

Hey everyone, I am new to this list, so first off hello. I am trying to get chirp running on my system. I am running Ubuntu 22.04, with all packages current. Chirp is installed via apt, as using snap or flat pack renders it inaccessible with Orca.
The problem, when I download from my Baofeng Uv5r, I get an error that says module ‘collections’ has no attribute callable. Is anyone running Chirp successfully on Ubuntu 22.04? I know that Python 2 is no longer supported. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much in advance,
